JURIS GRIŅĒVIČS
He was born in Riga. In 1969, graduated from the Music Pedagogy Department of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian State Conservatoire (now the Academy of Music) and soon started work in the Sound Recording Room of the Conservatoire.
Many decades taught various courses related to history of music, mainly on interpretation problems, as well as the history of vocal art. There were many Latvian singers among his students who have gained popularity in the world: Egīls Siliņš, Elīna Garanča, Maija Kovaļevska and others.
Almost 4 decades worked as the program director of Latvian Radio “Klasika” and as the reviewer and writer in various press publications, such as “Mūzikas saule”, “Brīvā Latvija”, “Laiks”.
Since retiring in 2018, he continues work as an educator at Alfrēds Kalniņš Cēsis School of Music.
