ROBERTINO LORETI
He was born in Rome, in 1947, to a family of eight children. The family was poor, and, when he was 10, his father fell sick, and Robertino helped his family by delivering bakery products to restaurants. He enjoyed singing folk-songs on his way and was noticed by people for his singing voice. He is mainly known as a singer of the light music genre and a world-famous boy in the 60-ties of the last century, when U.S. media called him “a golden boy”.
Robertino was singing at Cafe Grand Italia, where Neapolitan actor Toto and Danish TV producer Sorensen noticed the talented boy. Sorensen persuaded his father to sign a contract which stated that the boy would sing till the age of 17. The cooperation with producers led to the performances of Danish TV shows, tours of Scandinavia and Europe, Russia and the USA.
Robertino spent months on tour, singing up to three concerts a day, until his voice started to change. In Copenhagen he recorded an album, but later published several albums and appeared in movies. His voice eventually changed and became a baritone.
Loreti is well-known in the whole wide world: Europe, Russia, Australia, Mexico, Japan, the USA. He started his TV career in Denmark, therefore is always pleased to return to Nordic countries.
In 2013, Loreti was a powerful baritone, capable to perform operas, as well as popular music. Thirty years ago, after ten year break, the wunderkind returned to the stage as a mature singer and proved that time is not obstacle to a real talent.
Loreti recordings have been sold in millions of copies, and the demand for his modern recordings is just as great as for the masterpieces of his childhood. Last time Loreti performed in Riga in 2013.
In 2019, R. Loreti will be a member of the jury of Jānis Zābers 1-st International Vocal Competition.
