EDGARS KRAMIŅŠ
Edgars Kramiņš was born in Leningrad, in 1964. Initially attended the Boys Choir Class at Emīls Dārziņš Specialized Music Secondary School (1971-1980), whereas the professional education he obtained during his studies at the Faculty of Musical Theatre, Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (1985-1991), Riga Teacher Training and Educational Management Academy (1996-2000) and the University of Latvia (2000-2004), where in 2005 as a result of presenting his doctoral thesis he was awarded the doctor’s degree in pedagogy.
The first decade of his creative activities (1988-1998) is characterized by active concert performances in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, USA, etc., by stage director’s job at the National Opera, by performing the duties of an actor, director and artistic supervisor of Riga Musical and Poetic Theatre.
The second decade (1995-2005) is characterized by art pedagogy in many schools, universities and adult educational centers of Latvia.
The third decade (since 2005) is characterized by scientific activities in art pedagogy, where he presents himself as an author of scientific publications and books, MA and doctoral student research supervisor, tutor, reviewer and expert. Edgars Kramiņš has wide working experience as a teacher and as a member of the jury of various competitions in Latvia as well as abroad. He is the author of the monograph “Speech Skills in Communication”, the handbook “Let Us Speak Clearly, Vividly, Powerfully”. At the same time, he undertakes various duties in social organizations, and is the chairman of the National Teacher’s Union of Latvia since its reestablishment in 2009.
Edgars Kramiņš is the chairman of the board of the Cultural Education and Arts Centre “Kāpnes” (The Stairs), professor of the Vocal Academy. He is also the author of the idea of Jānis Zābers International Vocal Competition and its artistic supervisor.
