IRINA GAVRILOVICI
Born and raised in Romania. She studied piano and singing in the Italian school traditions at L. Boicescu-Grosowscaja at the Bucharest University of Music. There, until she emigrated to Austria in 1986, she was a teacher. Both in Vienna and in Helsinki (2000), she founded singing studios becoming a vocal teacher of Elīna Garanča, Inga Kalna, Egils Siliņš, Lilli Paasikivi, Topi Lehtipu, Mika Pohjonen, Jenny Carlstedt, Martin Achrainer, Katrin Adel, Johanna Russanen and many other notable singers.
She has worked as a vocal consultant at the Latvian National Opera (1997-2001) and the Finnish National Opera (2002-2020). She has served on the juries of several International Vocal Competitions and has lead master classes in Rome (Italy), Sofia (Bulgaria), Mellristadt (Germany), Kangasniemi and Turku (Finland), Riga and Ventspils (Latvia), Irkutsk (Russia), Linz (Austria) and the Academia Segesara in Romania. She has also been a rapporteur at the
5th International Congress of Voice Teachers in Helsinki.
